Indira Gandhi International Airport

IGI Airport is located in South-West Delhi in India. It is located close to Mahipalpur, Kapashera areas. The capital New Delhi lies less than 10 miles (16 km) northeast of the airport. Indira Gandhi Airport is the largest and busiest in India serving 35.8 million passengers in 2012 to hundreds of places across Asia and the globe. Indira Gandhi Airport is named after the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi who was the only woman to have ever held office in India and was the second longest serving Indian Prime Minister of all time, until she was assassinated in 1984. The airport was leased to a private operator in 2006. The opening of its brand new Terminal-3 in 2010 brought international and domestic flights (except for stand-alone low cost carriers) together under the one roof. The terminal also doubled the airport's capacity. Today it is major arrival & departure point for most of International Flights and domestic flights. IGI Airport is India's largest airport serving the visitors, using flight as their medium to travel. It is located 20 kms away from city center, easily accessible by Road & Metro. It is having direct metro train connection from New Delhi Railway station so that anybody reaching Delhi by train, can immediately proceed to IGI airport, without bothering for taxi.
